Looking for a new performance horseshoe? The EasyShoe 3D combines 3D HoofCare frog support with Finger Tabs. Finger Tabs are easy to apply with EasyShoe Quick Set Super Glue. The EasyShoe 3D is the lightest, most flexible EasyShoe yet. The thinner webbing provides superior traction on grass and arena surfaces, making it ideal for performance disciplines.
The Super Glue application opens the door to more people feeling confident to transitioning into a glue-on shoe. With more people interesting in dabbling in composite glue-on shoes, there are many questions that arise when first starting out. Here’s a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you get started.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I determine the best size for my horse?
A: We measure all EasyShoes in millimeters to ensure a precise fit. You will want a snug fit to ensure the Finger Tabs lay flat on the hoof wall. Gaps between the tab and hoof wall can result in a weak glue bond. We recommend taking a look at this guide that explains how to measure.
If you find yourself in a situation where you need to fill a gap between the tabs and hoof wall, you can use this trick to help secure the fit.
Q: My horse’s hoof is really round. What do I do about the extra length?
A: The EasyShoe 3D length can be trimmed. Keep in mind, the shoe can extend past the buttress line. As long as the shoe length is still under the heel bulbs (especially for the front feet), it is ok to have extra length. You can grind, trim, or rasp excess length away to prevent overreaching
Q: What items do I need to get started with this glue process?
Q: What is “hoof prep” and why should I do it?
A: Hoof preparation is crucial for a successful application. Hoof prep ensures that the hoof is clean and moisture free, allowing the glue to cure. Even a hoof that appears to be clean and dry can have trapped dirt or moisture. We recommend using a wire hoof brush, butane torch, and Hoof Buffy to prep. If you do not have a Buffy, a rasp is a good alternative, but will require more elbow grease.
Pro tip: Use a moisture meter to double check your hoof prep!
Q: Can this shoe be reset?
Q: Can you nail on the EasyShoe 3D?
A: The EasyShoe 3D is designed to be applied with Super Glue. However, the material allows for a nail to go through. Keep in mind that the shoe does not have metal inserts, so it is possible for nails to pull through.
Q: Do these shoes come in different colors?
A: The EasyShoe 3D comes in a clear urethane, but many of our creative customers have customized their EasyShoes with Rit DyeMore. Read the instructions and try it for yourself!
Q: What disciplines can I use the EasyShoe 3D for?
A: The EasyShoe 3D is made of flexible urethane that allows the hoof to flex naturally with each footfall. The EasyShoe 3D excels in performance disciplines including eventing, dressage, show jumping, barrel racing, pole bending, western pleasure, polo, and more. While the EasyShoe 3D offers great traction and can certainly be used for trail riding, the Versa Grip Octo would be a better choice for extreme terrain and endurance riding. The Versa Grip Octo will offer more longevity for pavement and roads, rough terrain, etc.
Q: Can the EasyShoe 3D be used for therapy purposes?
A: Yes, depending on what you are trying to achieve. The design of the shoe will instantly provide support and blood circulation. For more caudal support, DIM (dental impression material) can be added. However, for most therapy situations, the Versa Grip Octo or Versa Grip Glue would work best. All of the Versa Grip shoes are compatible with the Versa Grip Wedge and Versa Grip Rocker, providing more tools for vets and farriers to utilize.
