I have had excellent results transitioning horses from steel shoes to composites! Teeny is a 17.2hh Dutch Warmblood who was previously shod in steel shoes. After notoriously pulling his shoes, his hoof wall became very chipped. His previous farrier said there was no hoof left to nail to and there was nothing else he could do.

Teeny was left barefoot to allow some hoof to grow, but he was not comfortable during this process. When I met Teeny, his feet had grown significantly, but he was still uncomfortable.  I decided to put him in the EasyShoe Versa Grip Octo and add DIM (dental impression material). By the time he walked out to his pasture after the first application, he had a heel first landing on one front foot and was flat on the other. His owners report he seems completely comfortable and they anticipate he will be able to return to light work soon. We are thrilled with his progress so far!
