We, your EasyCare Product Specialist Team, have recently received numerous questions about the best way to revive or extend the life of the hook-and-loop fasteners (similar to Velcro) found on many of our Easyboot styles.
The hook-and-loop fasteners we use are made of polyester, making them suitable for use when exposure to sunlight and moisture is likely. Polyester hook-and-loop fasteners have an average lifespan of 3,500 openings and closings.
The hook-and-loop fasteners won’t last forever, but as long as they are kept clean, they should be able to stick together for several years if you open and close them a couple of times each day.
Keeping both the hook side and the loop side clean is the key. Any kind of debris will keep the hooks and loops from being able to properly catch and take hold.
One method of cleaning them that we’ve found works really well is using a simple cat brush. You can find these brushes at your local pet store or down the pet aisle at your local department store. A cat brush should take care of any dirt, hair, or plants stuck in your fasteners.
If the cat brush isn’t enough for something you may have stuck in your fasteners, try using a steel brush. These little metal brushes just a bit bigger than your toothbrush can work wonders.
Try using a cat brush or a steel brush on your hook-and-loop fasteners, and let us know if it worked for you. Please give us a call if you have any further questions at 800-447-8836.
