Buddy was a rescue who I brought home on a very cold snowy day in January 2011. The vet had to saw off almost twelve inches of foundered hoof on both front feet. He was in so much pain they had to nerve block him for his x-rays. I put him an a pair of Easyboot Rx heavily padded with the 12 mm Comfort Pads. In the weeks ahead I alternated between the Easyboot Rx and padded Old Mac’s. He went from laying down almost all the time, to two weeks later, walking happily around in his Old Mac’s. A few weeks after that he would do little spurts of bucking and trotting!

You can see what his x-ray looked like before they sawed off the excess hoof. Notice how the coffin bone is eroded away to about half its normal size.

The pictures above were taken six months later in June. Because of the destruction of Buddy’s coffin bone, he was unable to grow a normal hoof and he was only comfortable in boots with pads. Buddy also had Metabolic syndrome and Cushings. Buddy had a happy couple of years and I couldn’t have done it without the EasyCare products. Buddy lived in his boots almost 24/7 and, except for one little seam tear in his Rx boots, they all held up for the entire time. Buddy taught me so much about courage and try – he overcame so much. Also, in caring for him, I learned an immense amount about the rehab of horses hooves, and dealing with cushings and metabolic issues. I miss him so much every day.
