Turn up the volume and prepare to be inspired! Here unfolds a story of three reining horses who have each made their comeback through barefoot hoof care. Julie Vosberg the creator of the video and owner of these amazing horses, works with professional hoof care practitioner, Jason McClure of Hutchinson, KS and consulted with Steve Karshner of Caliente, CA. Both are barefoot trimmers and EasyCare Dealers. Julie an avid reiner says these horses would never be where they are today if it wasn’t for these very talented practitioners and use of EasyCare hoof boots. The Epic, Boa, Rx, Glove and Edge have all been used at various stages in these horses comeback story.
All three horses suffered from lameness in varying degrees. As Julie relentlessly researched the benefits of barefoot hoof care she herself became quite versed in natural hoof care and the whole horse approach, “It just made good sense”, says Julie. These horses not only went through a complete hoof makeover, Julie addressed the diet and their living conditions. She began seeing and understanding what was actually causing these lameness issues.
Julie, also consulted with Dr. Lisa Lancaster of Lancaster Veterinary Service in Colorado. Dr. Lancaster wrote The Sound Hoof. She is a vet, trimmer and certified farrier and has worked on research in collaboration with Dr. Bowker. According to Julie, Dr. Lancaster feels that one day veterinarians will be telling their clients that natural hoof care was their idea all along and will be the norm when it comes to hoof care!
Through her diligence, Julie and her horses are now reaping the benefits. Julie is riding all three horses and the first horse in the video (Baby) and third horse (Maggie) are currently in a full show schedule and haven’t looked back. Jaci the second horse in the video has a LTE of about $60,000! This mare too is coming along nicely but not being currently shown. Julie and her horse Maggie recently proved they are back better than ever winning the Non Pro title at both Lincoln, NE and Topeka, KS!
