Magical Indeed
This first edition of the Mendocino Magic Ride will take place on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the location of the 2004 World Championship Ride and Tie and EasyCare is privileged to be one of the event partners. Ride Managers Forrest Tancer and Cynthia Ariosta sure know how to host an event, according to reports from the recent Mendocino Magic. Competitors can choose from 30 or 50 mile distances.
The views are nothing short of incredible and there are many activities taking place along the coast for the holiday weekend if your family members need distractions while you ride. There is a pond for swimming (no lifeguard – swim at your own risk), and Fort Bragg will have their annual fireworks, which on a clear night can be seen from base camp ten miles from the fireworks sight. Click here for more information about Fort Bragg.

In the words of ride management: "The magic of the location lies in the spectacular scenery, the crashing of the waves of the Pacific Ocean, the towering ancient redwoods and the vast cattle ranches. While many people find magic in Mendocino County in its cultivated cash crop, we find magic in the tranquility and majesty of this incredible place in which we are privileged to live and ride. Let us share the magic with you." Who could resist?

This ride would not be possible without the permission and support from private landowners, including the Shea and Hoechstetter families, Campbell Hawthorne Timber Management, the Parker Family, the Jackson-Grube Family, Faye Olson and Mike Maguire.

Base camp is located on Lari Shea and Harvey Hoechstetter’s private 360 acre ranch overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The views are so spectacular, you may never want to leave camp. But if you do, trails will take you past majestic virgin redwoods, across cattle ranches and through crystal clear rivers. The course will take you on challenging climbs, logging roads, single track trails and through a few rocky creek beds. There will be plenty of water in troughs, creeks and open springs.

For The Epicureans Among Us
The ride also boasts a unique culinary perspective. A spcial wine tasting event will take place on Friday night hosted by Greenwood Ridge Vineyards of Anderson Valley.  A latin-inspired dinner will be provided on Saturday night by Karina’s Catering. If you’ve spent the day riding the trails, then the following menu will no doubt appeal.

  • Poblano and Mushroom Tamales
  • Southwestern Chipotle Chicken
  • Classic Red Tomato Rice
  • Latin Slaw
  • Salsa Verde
  • Tomato Salsa
  • Chile Chocolate Ganache Cake Squares

Adult libations on Saturday will feature locally brewed ‘Summer Solstice’ beer from the Anderson Valley Brewing Company.

If you don’t want to attend this ride, it’s time to check your own pulse.

If you would like to attend the ride, EasyCare would like to offer you one of two complimentary ride entries. Just drop a line to before the end of the day on Monday, June 28 and let us know why you deserve an entry. Even if you don’t win an entry you might still win some of the EasyCare product awards.
