This horse has been in back to back EasyCare glue-ons on a 4-6 week cycle for 10 years!
He started in the Easyboot Glue-On in 2015, applied with Vettec Adhere.
Then he was in the Easyboot LC in 2017, applied with acrylic glue.
When the Versa Grip Glue came out, he wore that with acrylic glue.
Most recently, he’s been in the Versa Grip Octo with Super Glue for the last few years. He’s a glue pro model!
“Do you feel the adhesive has had a negative impact on the quality of the hoof?” Honestly, not at all! He had Octos on for 2 consecutive record breaking wet winters and the set today (in pic) was after several atmospheric rivers over this last cycle. Not a single area of funky or ‘delaminating’ wall and they’re definitely the best yet in the Octos (Super Glue).
I’m a barefoot trimmer at heart, and barefoot / booted is the majority of my client base. That said, I love having the option of glue-on composite shoes! I feel like I can give the horses comfortable, physiologically respectful hoof protection for their rehab or performance needs – with minimal or no negative impacts on hoof health. It’s been an educational journey using the different glues and a happy surprise working most recently with my favorite, Super Glue!
The options from EasyCare just keep getting better and better, the innovations in function and materials are all helping horses be more sound, and that’s in perfect alignment with why I got into this career. Thank you EasyCare!
