The Western States Trail Ride, also known as the Tevis Cup, is one of the most challenging endurance competitions in the world. Horses and riders complete 100 miles in a single 24 hour period over extreme rugged terrain. Tevis is called “The Ultimate Horsemanship Challenge” for good reason.

The Haggin Cup is the most prestigious award in endurance, judged by a panel of veterinarians and awarded to the horse with the best condition after completing the 100-mile Tevis Cup, judged on soundness, heart rate, recovery, movement, etc.

We would like to congratulate EasyCare HCP John Perry of JP Natural Hoof Care and his mare A Real Diva for taking home the prestigious Haggin Cup at the 2025 Tevis Cup! The Haggin Cup is a true testament to John’s horsemanship in the saddle and beyond, and we could not be more thrilled for his achievement.

John shares how the EasyShoe Versa Grip Light + Stealth Cuffs held on with Super Glue helped make this dream a reality.

“Wow, Tevis was unbelievable this year. I have been waiting to ride my Cre Run mare A Real Diva on my favorite ride for five years and she was finally ready. The trail was perfect, thank you to all the volunteers who make it happen. My crew was amazing, they took care of Diva and I all day and night.

I contribute a huge part of her success to her hoof protection, I use EasyCare products on Diva and for Tevis I went with the EasyShoe Versa Grip Light with heat welded Stealth Cuffs held on with Super Glue. They are incredible for traction and concussion absorption, and even if you lose one like I did climbing out of the last canyon, with no damage to the hoof wall from nails pulling out, I was able to replace it at the vet check. I truly believe that they were a huge part of making that ride one of the most memorable days of my life.”

Amazing work, John!
