With many new EasyShoes available, it can be tricky to decide which shoe may be best for your horse. Compare and contrast the EasyShoe Versa Grip Line and the EasyShoe Speed Line to help you get started on the search for the perfect shoe.

EasyShoe Versa Grip Line

The EasyShoe Versa Grip Lineup consists of hybrid urethane horseshoes available in nail-on and glue-on application options. The Versa Grip offers versatility for endurance riding, trail riding, dressage, show jumping, carriage driving, western disciplines, and more.

The wide web design also makes the Versa Grip ideal for therapy cases. Holds pour-in packing very well.

The Versa Grip Line is offered in a wide range of sizes.

Each Versa Grip model has unique features that sets the shoe apart from the others, ranging from nail-on to glue-on and full urethane to metal inserts.

Versa Grip and Versa Grip Gold (nail-on).
Versa Grip Octo, Versa Grip Light, and Versa Grip Glue (glue-on).

The Versa Grip also offers accessories that fit into each shoe size, including a Wedge, Rocker, and Plug.

EasyShoe Speed Line

The EasyShoe Speed Line consists of hybrid glue-on/nail-on urethane horseshoes with integrated cuffs for easy gluing. The cuffs are designed for acrylic or urethane adhesives. You can also nail the Speed by cutting off the cuffs.

The Speed offers a keyhole design to provide flexibility in the heels. The center keyhole brace can be removed for additional flexibility. The thinner webbing allows the horse to sink more into the ground and increases traction. The Speed excels on both grass and arena footing. This makes the Speed a great choice for disciplines with high speeds and tight turns such as barrel racing, eventing, show jumping, and more.

Similarities

  • Both shoes can be nailed or glued.
  • Both shoes can be glued using acrylic or urethane adhesives. The hoof prep and application will be identical.
  • Both lineups have options that are either full urethane or have metal inserts.
  • Both shoes are the same thickness (distance from the ground to the hoof).

  • Both shoes have integrated cuffs. No welding required.
  • Both shoes excel in the arena.
  • Both shoes can often be reset.
  • You can add Quick Studs to both shoes.

Differences

  • Size options. The Versa Grip Line has a wider selection of sizes. Depending on your horse’s hoof measurements, this may be a deciding factor.
  • Application preference. The Versa Grip Line has options for Super Glue application whereas the Speed Line does not. The Versa Grip Glue can be applied with acrylic or urethane glue, similarly to the EasyShoe Speed which can also be applied with acrylic or urethane glue. If you prefer applying with Super Glue, the Versa Grip Octo may be better for you.
  • Flexibility preference. The EasyShoe Speed will offer maximum heel flexibility because of the keyhole design. The Versa Grip will still provide flexibility, but not quite as much as the Speed.
  • Design.
    • The EasyShoe Speed is 10mm narrower in webbing than the Versa Grip.
The Speed has a narrower web in comparison to the Versa Grip.
    • The cuffs on the Speed have less holes than the Versa Grip Glue to minimize the amount of glue wasted.
    • The Speed has a keyhole design in the heel. The Versa Grip does not.
  • Traction.
    • Riding on grass? Because of the thinner webbing, the EasyShoe Speed will sink farther into the ground, therefore providing the most traction.
    • Riding on rough, rocky trails? The wider webbing on the Versa Grip will give more protection against rocks and stones. It is also more durable on rocks and asphalt, giving you the most mileage possible out of one pair of shoes.
    • Riding in the arena? The Speed will ultimately provide the most traction, but many customers perform at top level competitions in the Versa Grip line as well.
  • Therapy options. If you are looking for a therapy shoe for hoof rehab, injury recovery, or chronic lameness, the Versa Grip line may be a better option. The wider webbing holds packing well. It is easy to adjust the breakover using a rasp or grinder to best suit the horse’s needs.
  • Accessories. If you’re looking for accessories such as a Wedge, Rocker, or Plug, the Versa Grip option is a better choice for you.

Overall, both the Versa Grip and EasyShoe Speed are excellent performance shoes and either shoe will work in many cases. Your decision may come down to sizing options, accessory options, or design preference. Please contact us if you need help choosing a shoe for your horse!
