EasyCare Comfort Pads are a great tool for many horses in many situations. Whether your horse is barefoot or shod, Comfort Pads increase solar support so that the horse is encouraged to move correctly.

Comfort Pads are available in 3 densities (soft, medium, firm) and 2 thicknesses (6mm or 12mm) to best suit the needs of different horses.

12mm versus 6mm thickness

Soft pads (green) offer the most cushion, but the least amount of shock absorption.

Medium pads (black) are a good combination of cushion and shock absorption.

Firm pads (red) offer very little cushion, but a lot of shock absorption.

All Comfort Pads come in one size. Simply stand the horse on the pad, trace around the hoof, and trim the Comfort Pad with scissors to the outline of the hoof.

Comfort Pads are helpful for both therapy and riding. If your horse needs additional solar support, here are a couple of ways you can utilize Comfort Pads.

Boots

  1. If your horse is barefoot and you utilize boots for riding, Comfort Pads can provide addition support and shock absorption. Firm pads (black) work well for riding, and are a great option for horses that need a little more protection than the boots alone provide.

2. If your horse is transitioning from shod to barefoot, they may be temporarily “ouchy” during the transition period. Comfort Pads are a great tool to alleviate the stress. The Easyboot Trail paired with a medium or soft Comfort Pad would be great for this situation.

3. If you utilize boots for therapy purposes, Comfort Pads can aid in the treatment of laminitis, navicular, thin soles, and other hoof ailments. A soft pad (green) would be best suited for these situations.

Shoes

Comfort Pads can also be added to EasyShoes. Simply cut to size as you would for a boot, and secure the Comfort Pad to the horseshoe with a few dabs of glue. There are many ways you can adjust EasyShoes to help each individual horse.

Here is the 6mm firm Comfort Pad paired with the EasyShoe Versa Grip Octo to give this horse some more shock absorption.

B Barefoot Hoof Care shares “Second set of Octos with 6mm firm Comfort Pads, Artimud and DIM. Lots of breakover ground into toe of shoe. Excellent improvement in concavity, soundness and toe length in just one 5 week cycle!”

In a therapy case, the medium Comfort Pad was added to the EasyShoe Versa Grip Glue and Versa Grip Rocker for a custom therapy package.

Also, you can cut Comfort Pads to give support where needed. In this case, a soft Comfort Pad was utilized for a horse needing additional heel support.
