Want to get the most mileage out of your glue-on EasyShoes? You can often reset a pair of EasyShoes a few times if removed carefully.

Use hoof nippers to remove the cuffs from the hoof wall.

Before you reset, take a few minutes to clean your used EasyShoes. The goal is to remove the dried up glue, dirt, and oils from the cuffs. You will need a Wire Hoof Brush and a Dremel. You can find Dremel attachments at your local hardware store or online.

Here are a few popular Dremel attachments used by farriers. We recommend using a 9931 bit.

See how to clean the cuffs using a Dremel.

You can also use a Wire Hoof Brush to get the big clumps of dirt off. Washing the shoes in water helps remove any oils from the inside of the cuffs for better shoe retention. See how to clean Finger Tabs for a reset.

How many resets can you expect? While it is common to get 1 or 2 resets, this is dependent on the environment, the horse’s workload, and the way the horse moves/wears the shoe. Your farrier can use their best judgement and decide if the shoe has enough wear left for a reset. Happy gluing!
