Boots and Bells, It’s Over the Top

There are numerous scenarios where a simple bell boot could be the perfect solution when used over hoof boots. Here are three great reasons you may want to consider topping off your booting with bells.

Reason #2.  You ride… The Over Achiever: Yes, I’m talking overreaching. Perhaps you ride an exuberant individual or use boots while roping, running barrels or to run a mounted shooting pattern. Whatever your game, overreaching occurs when the toe of the hind foot extends forward and hits the bulbous heel, coronary band, pastern or fetlock of the front foot. This often can cause injury particularly to the heel bulb and can result in a hoof boot loss or torn gaiter.  If you know your horse could be inclined to overreach don’t wait, reach for a bell boot.

Reason #3.  You ride… The Ambler: This horse is gaited and has all the fancy moves. These amazing horses are often built such that their hind feet can surpass their fronts. This overstride sometimes results in interference with the front feet which could be detrimental to the life of any hoof boot. If you own a gaited horse that seems to consistently interfere in some fashion, saunter your way to some bell boots.
