I personally don't believe the perfect hoof protection or perfect horse boot is yet to be invented. But I think the new Easyboot Cuff System is getting very close.
The Easyboot Cuff System includes a cuff that is glued to the hoof wall and a shell that slides over the hoof and cuff.
At the beginning of 2009 I posted some photos and articles about the Easyboot Cuff. The Easyboot Cuff is what I believe is the best hoof boot or hoof boot system ever made. It is essentially a glue-on hoof boot that can be applied or removed at any time. The "Cuff" system is applied to the wall of the horse and has four embedded t-nuts. A shell is then applied over the hoof and the t-nuts line up holes in the shell. Tighten four screws and away you go.
I did some preliminary work on the "Cuff" system in late 2008 and early 2009 but the project was put on the back burner because of the success of the Easyboot Glove and Easyboot Glue-On horse boots. In addition I really wanted to get the patent dialed in, the Although the Glove and Glue-On products will again be our focus in 2010, I have dedicated some time to what I believe will be the biggest advancement in hoof boots since the Easyboot hoof boot was invented by Dr. Neel Glass in 1970.
The "Cuff" testing is back in full swing. We did an endurance event in the system over the weekend and I'm still amazed by the concept. It is really going to change how hoof boots are used and looked at!
Here are a couple photos that describe the system.
1. The "Cuff" is first lined up and glued to the hoof wall.
Notice the t-nuts embedded in the cuff.
2. After the "Cuff" is applied to the hoof, a shell can be attached by simply sliding it over the hoof and tightening a couple screws.
3. After riding remove the shell by removing the screws. The "Cuff" stays attached to the hoof and ready for the next ride and next shell application. The beauty of the system is that the hoof is now completely barefoot and doing what nature intended between rides. All portions of the system are well below the hairline.
Check out the hoof! Barefoot! Ready for the next quick, below the hairline hoof boot application!
I used the Easyboot Cuff System again this weekend and was blown away. It's one of my main goals now and I'll keep you posted on the progress.
