We are pleased to announce the latest in our national collaboration activities between EasyCare and 40 endurance events across the country. The Valles Caldera three-day pioneer event takes place west of Los Alamos, New Mexico and offers riders the opportunity to ride 35 or 50 miles each day for three days.
You can win a free entry to the entire three days by simply emailing us at email@example.com and letting us know why you deserve the entry. All the winner has to do is write a story about their adventure and include some photos. We will publish their story to the EasyCare blog.
About The Ride
This three-day Pioneer ride will travel to remote locations on the historic ranch that haven't been visited for over 30 years. You may see wildlife including elk, turkey, bear, bobcat and coyote. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful endurance rides in the Southwest. Base Camp is in a new location at approximately 7,400' elevation: it is flat and will accomodate any length of rig.
You will ride a combination of old logging roads and two track ranch roads; you will cross rivers filled with trout. The trails are generally not rocky, but where there is rock it is very sharp and about fist size. In some areas obsidian (volcanic glass) litters the ground. For this reason hoof protection will be required.
The Valles Caldera National Preserve was created in 2000 as part of the Santa Fe National Forest. It occupies the original location of the 89,000 acre Baca Ranch which was owned by the Dunnigan Family. The complex management systems of the ranch served as a model for sustainable land use. This included limited hunting and grazing, the use of prescribed fire and selective logging and preserving healthy range and timber for New Mexico's largest heard of elk.
A caldera is the large crater formed by the explosion of a volcano. Valles Caldera is considered quite small in its family of supervolcanoes, with a diameter of only 12 miles. It lies within the Jemez Volcanic Field north of the Rio Grande Rift, which runs north-south through New Mexico.

Director of Marketing
I am responsible for the marketing and branding of the EasyCare product line. I believe there is a great deal to be gained from the strategy of using booted protection for horses, no matter what the job you have for your equine partner.
