This three-day hands on-course is designed for anyone who is interested in learning myofascial release (MFR) techniques for the equine client. The class is based on the principles of MFR taught by John F. Barnes. MFR is a hands-on whole body technique addressing the fascial muscle system.
Fascia is a web of tiny fluid filled microtubules that exist in a multidimensional structure surrounding every cell in our body. Fascia is what composes over 80% of what we consider to be muscle tissue. It is such a strong fiber it may exert a pressure of up to 2,000 lbs per square inch when it becomes tight. The specialized techniques required to treat this tissue must be much different from those that treat other systems and areas of the body.
MFR relieves pain and restores mobility by releasing the restrictions within the fascial system. It is very different than massage and chiropractic manipulation which do not directly address the fascial system.
