Screw Loose?

Not anymore! You may have noticed the hardware on the Easyboot Glove and Easyboot Glove Back County have a bit more staying power these days. Last year both styles of hoof boots started arriving from the factory with a semi permanent thread lock on all hardware. This was a welcomed addition, however on the flip side we realized it would require a bit more elbow grease if repairs were necessary.

Kim Burnop of Kim's Farrier Service in Virginia (You may remember Kim was our featured EasyCare dealer in July) had been struggling with removing screws for gaiter changes out in the field. She told me she wasn't having much luck with a pair of straight, needle nose pliers. Determined to find something that would work for her, Kim found herself at the Tool Mecca, a.k.a., Lowe's. With boot in hand and the aid of a diligent handy helper, Kim's boot repair prayers were answered. (FYI, Obtaining help at Lowe's is never a problem if you are cute and sweet!)

Ecstatic with her discovery, Kim reported to me that she had found the perfect tool, enabling her to make hardware changes quickly and easily.

The answer? A very inexpensive set of Snap Ring Pliers. These tiny nosed pliers can really hold the t nut so that you can easily break the thread lock bond. They can be purchased many places so have fun Googling for them or simply pick up a pair at your local hardware store. As the name suggests these handy pliers will allow you loosen boot hardware in a snap and well worth adding to your tool bag.
