3-Day NATURAL HOOF CARE CLINIC
presented by IDA HAMMER
Last Weekend in April (April 29-30th, May 1st)
Here is a great opportunity to learn from one of the best this country has to offer in hoof care and overall horse health!
High Hope Ranch of Glen Rose, Texas, enthusiastically invites you to attend a fun-filled weekend of learning hooves the natural way! This clinic will be presented and instructed by Ida Hammer of Congerville, IL. Ida is a respected hoof care specialist, trimming clinician, former AANHCP member, EasyCare dealer and currently a practicing member of the American Hoof Association. She presently has between 600-700 horses in her care and has studied under and worked with some of the best in the business, including Pete Ramey, Charles Hall, Chad Bembenek, and Patrick Eames to name a few. This special event is designed to help horse owners better understand the benefits and how-to behind natural hoof care.
Day One - Friday, April 29th – 5:00pm-9:00pm
We will debunk the myths, explain the truthful negative effects of using shoes, address the science and trimming methods behind how to make it work, go over basic anatomy and function, and provide a better overall understanding to owners looking for answers. Cost to attend this day is $50.
Day Two - Saturday, April 30th – 9:00am-5:00pm
Beginner’s barefoot trimming class for owners interested in learning to trim their own horses with confidence. We will be teaching you on cadaver legs, and this class will also include a full dissection for a thorough lesson on anatomy and function within the hoof. Participation in the actual trimming portion of the class is limited to the first 20 people to reserve a spot, but an unlimited amount of auditors are welcome. Cost for this portion is $250 to learn to trim, $125 for auditors.
Day Three – Sunday, May 1st – 9:00am-5:00pm
Advanced barefoot trimming class for those more experienced students looking to expand their skills and knowledge. Not only will we be working on live horses, but we will be introducing pathological hooves and the trimming principles behind healing the natural way. You either need previous trimming experience or at least participation in the previous two days to be a full participant in this class. Again, full participation is limited to the first 20 people to reserve their spot. Cost for this portion is $250 for trimmers, $125 for auditors.
• Pay just $450 to be a full participant the entire weekend or $250 to audit all three days.
• If you have attended the trimming class before, you may return for half price!
This only applies to Day Two of the clinic.
• Veterinarians may attend and/or participate for half price the entire weekend.
• Farriers receive a 10% discount.
Further details will be discussed including what you’ll need to bring, etc. when you call to reserve your spot. A welcome package e-mail will also be sent out to all those attending that will include additional information. We do ask that you pre-pay so that we may have enough food on hand as snacks will be provided Friday night, and lunch will be provided both Saturday and Sunday. Pre-payment for full participants is mandatory as this is limited to the first 20 people to reserve a spot in the class.
High Hope Ranch has accommodations available for those wishing to stay on the property all weekend, and there are numerous local hotels if we fill up. If you would like to book a room, bring your camper or camp on the land those options are detailed below:

2 - A private, single or double occupancy, room in Habari...the rustic and welcoming original farmhouse that serves as a wonderful spacious guest-house. Natural Hoof Care & Horse Training
Please pass along to others that may be interested. Any posting of this event at your local barn, etc. is greatly appreciated.
This class is set up to help horse owners who want to trim their own horses proceed with more confidence. It also helps horse owners who do not wish to trim their own horses, but would like to understand the hoof mechanism better. If you choose to do this professionally it is strongly recommended that you attend a full course of education and or certification program for natural trimming. www.equinesciencesacademy.com
